What can we do better? How colleges of education and schools of education can mainstream LGBTIQ+ issues in their curricula. Using Queer Theory as an interrogatory lens. Acknowledging queer issues when designing modules.

Dr Declan Fahie

Director of School Placement and Director of Research, School of Education, UCD

Declan Fahie is Lecturer in Education and Director of School Placement on the Professional Masters in Education. He has published nationally and internationally on workplace bullying in schools, qualitative research methodologies, teacher effectiveness and queer issues in education.

Dr Gavin Murphy

Assistant Professor, School of Education, Trinity College Dublin

Dr. Murphy’s teaching and research interests focus on educational leadership and policy, on the policies and practices of school leaders and on teacher education.

Professor Jonathan Glazzard

Head of Department of Children, Education and Communities. Professor of Teacher Education, Edge Hill University

Professor Jonathan Glazzard is Professor of Inclusive Education in the Carnegie School of Education. In 2015 he was awarded National Teaching Fellow status by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and is a Principal Fellow of the HEA. He is Director of the Centre for LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Education and he is Principal Researcher in the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.

Ruari-Santiago McBride

Traveller Advocacy Worker at North Tipperary Development Company. Marie Curie and Irish Research Council Fellow at University of Limerick

Ruari-Santiago is a Traveller Advocacy Worker in North Tipperary, Ireland for the North Tipperary Development Company. With over, ten years of experience working in the field of social justice research. He is a member of the Irish Sexualities and Genders Research Network

Dr Aoife Neary

Lecturer in Sociology of Education, School of Education, University of Limerick

Aoife Neary is a Lecturer in Sociology of Education at the School of Education, University of Limerick.
For almost a decade Aoife has been doing research in the area of gender and sexuality in education, all funded by several awards from the Irish Research Council.
